Thinking of Divorce? I don't know but there is so much to do now that you have decided to move on!
The emotional turmoil of making that jump ahead! Is it worth it? Where do you start?
What about the kids? It's not something you should take lightly, to throw in the towel, so to speak.
What can be done the most inexpensive way? It can cost thousands of dollars that could be done under $2,500 with a little planning ahead of time.
1- Try marriage therapy
2- Try to separate into separate living arrangements and give it 2 months to see if you can work things out while not under the same roof. Some happy growth time for both.
3- Get yourself a Mediator that can help discuss the decisions that need to be made
4- Legal advice to know what your rights are~ is a start. Pay a retainer + pay $300-$400 per hour.
You don't have to pay a lawyer for that! What! Yes, you can have legal protection so that you can call a lawyer anytime that things get hot and heavy or that you want to know what your rights are. Doesn't that sound like the perfect world? Get the Legal team on your side and get the protection you deserve!
5- Separate the assets on paper so that you have some idea of what kind of inventory that you have that needs to be dispersed.
6- Total up the Liabilities, credit cards, loans, mortgages, etc. so those also can be split equally
Knowledge is power! when you know what your family unit has both financially and emotionally you can get answers and demand solutions
7-Now what about the kids? Can you come to terms that you can agree on that is amicable for both of you? Or does this need to be discussed with your Lawyer and then perhaps put on the table when both of you are at the Mediator's office?
8- Know your Rights! I can't say that enough so that when you go in for mediation you are well planned, with children's information, assets, and liabilities for the family. Ask a lawyer.
9-Take time with the kids to arrange the least amount of upheaval and argument surrounding what's best for the children. You can't fight against someone when you don't know what your rights are. Go in with empowerment and decisions.
10- Get your legal protection today to save you dollars and time. You don't need the extra stress. Life is tough enough!
